Dina Maiben

Dina was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and currently lives in central New Jersey.  She holds a BA in Middle East Studies: Hebrew from the University of Utah, an MA in Jewish Studies from Gratz College, and an Advanced Certificate in Jewish Education.  Dina also studied at the University of Haifa in Haifa, Israel.  She is currently a doctoral candidate in Jewish Education at Gratz College.  

 

Dina has significant experience in both formal and informal education, and has specialized in combining these two aspects.  She has designed model archaeological excavations, simulation games, and carnivals that reinforce Jewish content in a fun and memorable way.

An award winning author, editor, and educational consultant, Dina has published 20 books and numerous articles for children and adults.  She is best known for her work in Hebrew education.  Dina is the author of Alef Bet Quest and Ready, Set...Go Alef Bet!, the first Hebrew primer and pre-primer with fully integrated digital components, that combine print reading with computerized learning.  Alef Bet Quest won the 2010 Distinguished Achievement Award for World Language from the Association of Educational Publishers, the first Hebrew textbook to be so honored.
